Yankees Get Swept

>> Monday, April 27, 2009

The Yankees have fallen back to 9-9 and are back at .500 after a terrible series. The Red Sox came back in all three games and even Andy Pettitte was not able to handle them. Jacoby Ellisbury had a shocking straight steal of home, the second off Andy Pettitte in as many years. The Yankees will turn to C.C Sabathia tonight in an attempt to end this losing streak. I will come back with more later.

This is a video I made last night reacting to the game. The Yankees lost 16-11 and are back to 9-8. The Yankees called up Angel Berroa and Mark Melancon to fill in for Bruney and Berroa.

My First Trip to Yankee Stadium

Here is a short video I made from my first trip to the New Yankee Stadium. It is a magnificent ballpark and I am sure you will enjoy watching a ballgame there as much as the old ballpark. The amenities are very nice and it has a modern feel.

Injury Update

Both Cody Ransom and Chien-Ming Wang will likely go on the DL. Ransom has a strained right quad which should keep him out for at least two weeks and by that time, the Yankees will likely have A-Rod back. Wang has some sort of hip problem which has been partially causing the lack of velocity on his pitches and his inability to throw strikes. We will probably see Angel Berroa fill in for Ransom but for Wang, we could see Phil Hughes, Brett Tomko or Alfredo Aceves possibly come up to fill his hole in the rotation.

Yankees Lose a Heartbreaker in Boston

With a 4-2 lead going into the bottom of the ninth inning and the sandman on the mound, the game looked like it was going to go the Yankees way. Unfortunately for Mo and the Yanks, Jason Bay tied the game and Kevin Youkilis later won it. These two home runs were devestating to the Yankees who looked like they would continue their three gmae winning streak. The Red Sox have won 8 in a row after this game and the Yankees would like to win at least one of the two remaining games, to avoid digging themselves a hole in the AL East.

Here is MLB Network's Analysis of the Youkilis Home Run:

Yankees Red Sox Series

Starting tonight, the Yankees will play their first series of the season against the Red Sox. The three game weekend set will be held at Fenway Park in Boston. The rivalry is back and here are some things to watch for in the upcoming series:

How Will Joba Pitch?
Joba Chamberlain is the best young arm the Yankees have and arguably the best throughout baseball. After having great success out of the bullpen in 2007, the Yankees put him in his original role throughout his minor league and college career. Joba was very good starting last season and many people do not remember that. He had a 2.60 ERA and inning for inning he was one of the best in baseball when he was healthy. However, Joba has had a sloppy start to the season with an ERA above five. It will be interesting to see how he pitches at Fenway on Friday night. If anyone remembers, he was lights out last season and shut down the Red Sox in a Friday night game at Fenway against Josh Beckett.
Joba's Great Start at Fenway:

Will A.J be the A.J we Saw in his first two Starts?
A.J Burnett has been a stopping force for the Yankees and has pitched three times, all being after a Wang loss. This time he takes the mound with the Yankees on a hot streak and we will see if he can live up to his performance so far against Josh Beckett.

Swisher Cooling Down?
After a monstrous start to the season, Nick Swisher has been average at best in his last few games since the injury to Xavier Nady. He will look to prove he is for real this weekend.

Gardner or Melky?
After a good spring training and a solid start, Brett Gardner has fallen off a little bit while Melky has played very well. Melky is getting the call once again tonight and he will start at center field after he won the game for the Yankees on Wednesday.

Welcome to the Bronx Informer!

>> Thursday, April 23, 2009

Hi, and welcome to the brand new Bronx Informer blog. My name is Tomer Talmy and I have been covering the Yankees for the past seven seasons. I have good sources to get my Yankees information and the Bronx Informer will be your destination for analysis and opinions about the Yankees and baseball that you can not get anywhere else. I host a show on YouCastr.com and starting on May 15th, I will also be airing a show live about the Yankees and the rest of Major League Baseball via my school. When thinking of making a blog I first wanted to have a unique idea about the content and presentation. I have decided to make periodic videos which will be embedded in my blog posts and will be available via YouTube. These videos will be the basis of this blog but I will also be sure to post my Bleacher Report articles on here as well as other opinions and Yankees news. My goal is to not only provide you with the best analysis from my own perspective but offer links and media from around the web to keep you up with the great zoo in the Bronx, the New York Yankees.
